Ryan Howard has 250 at bats in the 2008 season. And yes, even we, his biggest fans, will admit, he has been off to a slow start. But come on. He has another 300-400 at bats. We are not worried. We will show you what he has done through those 250 at bats, and we’ll give you a prediction on the rest of his season.

2008 stats:

  • 250 at bats
  • 51 hits
  • .204 average
  • 42 runs
  • 11 doubles
  • 1 triple
  • 15 homeruns
  • 49 rbi’s
  • 37 walks
  • 91 strikeouts

Okay, so the batting average is way, way down. The doubles are a little down. And the homeruns could be a little better. And obviously, Ryan is striking out too much, but power hitters do that.. Okay, so that is through 68 games.

We’ve got 94 more to work with. Obviously the Phillies are going to be in the hunt. We know that. Without Howard producing the Phillies can’t win the National League. They may survive the NL East, but going to need some Ryno production to get to the world series. Here are our projected numbers for Howard the last 94 games.

  • 92 games
  • 333 at bats
  • 96 hits
  • .290 average
  • 66 runs
  • 22 doubles
  • 0 triples
  • 28 homeruns
  • 63 rbi’s
  • 55 walks

So, obviously we are projecting Ryan to heat up the remainder of June, all of July, August and September. If our stats came true here would be Ryan’s final numbers.

  • 160 games
  • 583 at bats
  • 147 hits
  • .250 average
  • 108 runs
  • 33 doubles
  • 1 triple
  • 43 homeruns
  • 112 rbi’s
  • 92 walks

Okay, so probably not MVP type numbers, but atleast an improvment from how he has started. And yeah, pretty darn good power numbers! Good luck Ryan!
